‘I fired the manager who told me to lose weight,’ reveals curvy and proud Jennifer Lopez – by Daily Mail – 3rd Nov 2011
Jennifer Lopez once fired a manager who told her to lose weight, it has been revealed. The American Idol judge – who has been named Woman of the Year by US Glamour – discussed the incident with actress Jane Fonda. The topic came up as Fonda interviewed her former Monster-in-Law co-star, saying: ‘I read that you once fired a manager who told you to lose weight.’ Lopez, 42, says: ‘I was just so infuriated that somebody said you couldn’t have a little extra meat on you – because I was by no means fat! ‘That was so mean and closed-minded.’ ‘I was like: “No, this is who I am and this is the type of woman that I grew up with and it was beautiful and there’s no reason to be anybody but myself”.’
The mother-of-two also reveals that she is no longer pressured to diet her curves away. ‘No, I don’t get that now,’ she says. ‘I think people know better.’ The New Yorker also tells Fonda, 73, that she has not decided whether or not she will have plastic surgery in the future. ‘Honestly, I’m not going to make a judgement on it because I don’t have to yet,’ Lopez tells the veteran star who has openly admitted to having cosmetic surgery herself. ‘I mean, I’d like to think I’ll feel great about myself and age gracefully, but then I think: “Well, what if I do want a little bit of something?” ‘I’m open to being open.’
‘So mean’: The performer, pictured here on stage last month, was upset by the suggestion she lose weight, and took swift action ‘When I first started in music, Puffy and I were together and he mentored me,’ the Jenny From the Block singer says about P Diddy. ‘He let me know what the music business was like, and that was something that I took with me. ‘I didn’t think about it at the time, but then I realised later, I’m quoting him!’ Lopez has been married three times and is in the process of going through her third divorce – from singer Marc Anthony. ‘I just think when it’s easy, it’s great,’ Lopez says. ‘But when something bad happens is when you really learn. ‘It causes self-examination, it causes you to take a look at yourself.
‘You naturally start analysing. It’s not that you’re wrong; it’s that sometimes you just need to make adjustments. ‘Change your way of thinking, change your way of doing, change your way of choosing.’ When it comes to love both actresses agree that it shouldn’t be called ‘falling in love,’ preferring instead the phrase ‘standing on two feet.’ ‘That’s right,’ Lopez says. ‘Standing on two feet, seeing everything straight and right and clearly.’
The Back-Up Plan star also tells Glamour readers her key to a good relationship. She says: ‘I think that I’ve finally learned the biggest lesson of all. ‘You’ve got to love yourself first. You’ve got to be OK on your own before you can be OK with somebody else. ‘You’ve got to value yourself and know that you’re worth everything.’ Fonda has high-praise for Lopez, saying: ‘Jennifer’s uniqueness lies in her combination of extraordinary beauty, intelligence and street smarts. ‘She’s a fantastic role model. She owns it.’

Though personally I think some of these guys are too far overpaid, remember eye for eye. Tooth for tooth. Comment for comment. Equitable retaliations please. Sacking in this case, rather than an equally stinging (even if perception is only on your side and intent on his side is non-existent – if it isn’t still think equitable) comeback, is over the top and abuse of ‘power’ J-Lo.
Even employers can play fair. How about proving this point by hiring the guy back on condition he accepts a well thought out counter to his comment about meat? Would do wonders for your rep and set an example for the ‘followers’ out there who mindlessly copy justice or injustice simply being unable to think it through?
Could Jennifer Lopez’s topless role be the reason for her marriage split from Marc Anthony? Actress ‘planning to bare all’ in new movie – by Daily Mail Reporter – Last updated at 2:22 PM on 17th July 2011
Fans are still reeling from the shocking news that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have split after seven years of marriage.
While the pair gave little reason for the break-up in the statement they released on their website, speculation is now rife that reports Lopez, 41, will be going topless in her upcoming movie What To Expect When You’re Expecting could have had something to do with it.
It was claimed earlier this week that mother-of-two Lopez will be baring almost all in the comedy film, based on the pregnancy book of the same name.
What caused the split? Speculation is rife that Jennifer Lopez’s rumoured topless role in What To Expect When You’re Expecting could have been behind her break-up from Marc Anthony
A source told Life And Style magazine: ‘According to the script, Jennifer’s character, Holly, bares her breasts to help convince her husband, played by Rodrigo Santoro, that they need to adopt a baby boy.’
And What To Expect When You’re Expecting isn’t the only role Lopez is apparently planning to strip off in, as she is also set to get racy alongside Jason Statham in crime thrilled Parker.
While it remains to be seen whether the roles had something to do with the split, Lopez has kept her nudity to a minimum since she has been with Anthony.
Lopez famously went topless moments in 1997 movie U Turn, Money Train in 1995 and Out Of Sight in 1998, but has lessened her racy roles since she married Anthony in 2004.
Commitments: It is thought Jennifer’s desire to rejoin American Idol for a second season could also have caused problems with Anthony
It has also been reported Lopez’s commitments to American Idol may have caused problems in her marriage.
While the On The Floor singer has not yet confirmed whether she will return to the US TV talent show for a second season, it is thought Anthony may have argued that she wasn’t spending enough time with her family when she sat on the panel earlier this year.
However, other sources claim it was actually Anthony’s ‘bad attitude’ which caused the split.
One source told X17Online.com: ‘Jennifer has been very open about how much she is tired of dealing with Marc’s bad attitude.
‘She couldn’t wait to make this announcement. She has been planning this for months but wanted to make sure her assets were protected before she files.’

TMZ.com also reported that Lopez spent the Fourth of July weekend with her twins in Malibu, but without Anthony.
Lopez and Anthony, who are parents to three-year-old twins Max and Emme, announced their split in a brief statement yesterday afternoon.
‘We have decided to end our marriage,’ they said. ‘This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters. It is a painful time for all involved and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time.’
The split comes as a surprise to fans given the pair’s recent and quite public displays of affection. Lopez accompanied Anthony, 42, on stage while he performed during the American Idol finale on May 25, ending the racy performance with a passionate kiss.
Where’s Marc? Lopez took her mother Guadalupe to meet Prince William and Duchess Kate at the BAFTA Brits to Watch party in Los Angeles on on Saturday night
They were last pictured together at the unveiling of her Boy’s and Girl’s Club billboard in Times Square in New York on June 10.
There was certainly no sign of trouble as the Puerto Rican singer turned out to support his wife, holding her hand and giving her a peck on the lips.
However, Anthony was notably absent at the BAFTA Brits to Watch party in Los Angeles on on Saturday night.
Lopez instead took her mother Guadalupe to meet Prince William and Duchess Kate.
In a recent interview with Latina magazine, Lopez spoke about her relationship with Anthony, and said she was leaving things to fate.
She said: ‘I do believe in fate, I really do. And I believe in destiny and I believe that things are going to be what they’re gonna be and for whatever reason, we were meant to share this time together.’

During their marriage, the pair mixed business with pleasure.
In 2005, they collaborated on Lopez’s first full-length Spanish language album, Como Ama Una Mujer (How a Woman Loves).
Lopez and Anthony weren’t afraid to mix business and pleasure during their relationship. ‘There’s something about us working together that kind of works,’ she once said. ‘It’s just a natural thing.’ In 2005, they collaborated on Lopez’s first full-length Spanish language album, Como Ama Una Mujer (How a Woman Loves). They also starred together in 2007’s El Cantante (pictured above), a film about salsa king Hector Lavoe. That same year, they co-headlined a tour (pictured below) during which she revealed she was pregnant.
Last November, the pair announced they were creating a fashion range for Kohl’s. In April this year, they announced plans for a television show together, Q’Viva! The Chosen, with Simon Fuller, the creator of Idol. It is unclear if it will continue. While working on their collaborations, Anthony was sure of one thing: ‘She’s always been the boss!’

That same year, they took their love on the road as they teamed up for a tour and in November, Lopez announced she was pregnant.
In April this year, they announced plans for a television show together, Q’Viva! The Chosen, with Simon Fuller, the creator of Idol.
The show was to feature the superstar couple as they traveled the world to find the best performers in Latin music, dance and other arts with the goal of creating a live extravaganza.
The show had no airdate, and it’s unclear if it will continue.
While they both shared ambitions for professional success, they were also focused on raising their twins and Lopez recently hinted that more children were be on the cards.
‘I think Marc would like to have more kids,’ she said in January this year. ‘We talk about it.’
Lopez and Anthony began their relationship just three weeks after her very high profile engagement to Ben Affleck was called off in January 2004.
In June that same year, they said ‘I do’ in a secret ceremony at her lavish Beverly Hills home.
At the time of their wedding, the ink was still drying from Anthony’s divorce from first wife, former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres.
After flaunting her romances with exes Affleck and rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs in the media, Lopez opted for a low key approach and didn’t publicly acknowledge her marriage for another eight months.
Of course, Lopez had been married twice before; to restaurateur Ojani Noa, whom she split from in 1998, and to former backup dancer Cris Judd from 2001 to 2003.
Anthony has two sons Cristin, 10, and Ryan, 7, from his first marriage to Torres. He also has a teen daughter, Arianna, from a previous relationship.
The pair renewed their wedding vows in 2008 and again last year as they celebrated their sixth anniversary.
In a VH1 documentary Behind The Music recorded last year, Lopez revealed she had briefly dated Anthony in her youth, ending it because neither was ready to settle down.
When they met up again to record a track together for Lopez’s movie Shall We Dance, they reignited the flame.
‘We reconnected like we had never been apart,’ she recalled.
‘It was really the same chemistry and connection we had at the very beginning.’
Anthony added: ‘That’s when we knew – we’d matured enough, seen enough and lived enough to know that we were wasting our time not being together.
‘I couldn’t be more in love. I say it every day – I’m the luckiest man on earth.’
Lopez, who topped People magazine’s ‘most beautiful’ list this year, has scored hit songs with If You Had My Love and Jenny from the Block. She also has become a top star in romantic comedy movies, most recently appearing in 2010 film The Back-up Plan. As well as working on American Idol, her latest single On The Floor has been a top ten hit in several countries. Anthony is a two-time Grammy winner and the top selling salsa artist of all time. His hit songs include Si Tu No Te Fueras and Contra La Corriente.

She’s spent the past few years trying to stop him from cashing in on their short relationship.

A FIERY ROMANCE: Lopez had a high profile two-and-a-half-year relationship with hip-hop mogul Sean P Diddy Combs, which started to unravel after he involved her in a gun-toting police chase in Manhattan in 1999. That December the pair were partying at Club New York when gunfire erupted between Combs’ entourage and another group. Lopez and Combs were being driven away from the scene when they were chased and stopped by the police. A gun was found in the front seat of their vehicle and Combs was later charged with felony gun possession. Lopez terminated her involvement with the Bad Boy Records CEO one year later.

WE’LL ALWAYS HAVE GIGLI: Lopez and Ben Affleck began dating in 2002, quickly earning the moniker ‘Bennifer.’ His cameo in the Jenny From The Block video that September was universally mocked. He has said the video, where he rubs cream into her derriere, is the biggest regret of his career. Undaunted at the time, he gave J.Lo a $1.2m six-carat pink diamond ring. She gushed that Affleck, now married to Jennifer Garner, was ‘the one’. Starring together in 2003 flop Gigli cemented the damage started by the video and the union was universally lampooned. Their September 14, 2003, wedding in Santa Barbara was called off just hours before the event. They split in January 2004.

Is it worth it? Or time to retire and gentrify rather than drop a class as the article appears to suggest? J-Lo, still time to change your mind, Latino representation depends on you 2. This is a NLP attack upon the middle class (specifically latino middle class) saying, latinos get divorced, their wives become strippers. Let someone younger take the gauntlet if not.
