The prison industry in the United States: big business or a new form of slavery?

HUMAN rights organizations, as well as political and social ones, are condemning what they are calling a new form of inhumane exploitation in the United States, where they say a prison population of up to 2 million – mostly Black and Hispanic – are working for various industries for a pittance. For the tycoons who have invested in the prison industry, it has been like finding a pot of gold. They don’t have to worry about strikes or paying unemployment insurance, vacations or comp time. All of their workers are full-time, and never arrive late or are absent because of family problems; moreover, if they don’t like the pay of 25 cents an hour and refuse to work, they are locked up in isolation cells.

There are approximately 2 million inmates in state, federal and private prisons throughout the country. According to California Prison Focus, “no other society in human history has imprisoned so many of its own citizens.” The figures show that the United States has locked up more people than any other country: a half million more than China, which has a population five times greater than the U.S. Statistics reveal that the United States holds 25% of the world’s prison population, but only 5% of the world’s people. From less than 300,000 inmates in 1972, the jail population grew to 2 million by the year 2000. In 1990 it was one million. Ten years ago there were only five private prisons in the country, with a population of 2,000 inmates; now, there are 100, with 62,000 inmates. It is expected that by the coming decade, the number will hit 360,000, according to reports.

What has happened over the last 10 years? Why are there so many prisoners?

“The private contracting of prisoners for work fosters incentives to lock people up. Prisons depend on this income. Corporate stockholders who make money off prisoners’ work lobby for longer sentences, in order to expand their workforce. The system feeds itself,” says a study by the Progressive Labor Party, which accuses the prison industry of being “an imitation of Nazi Germany with respect to forced slave labor and concentration camps.”

The prison industry complex is one of the fastest-growing industries in the United States and its investors are on Wall Street. “This multimillion-dollar industry has its own trade exhibitions, conventions, websites, and mail-order/Internet catalogs. It also has direct advertising campaigns, architecture companies, construction companies, investment houses on Wall Street, plumbing supply companies, food supply companies, armed security, and padded cells in a large variety of colors.”

According to the Left Business Observer, the federal prison industry produces 100% of all military helmets, ammunition belts, bullet-proof vests, ID tags, shirts, pants, tents, bags, and canteens. Along with war supplies, prison workers supply 98% of the entire market for equipment assembly services; 93% of paints and paintbrushes; 92% of stove assembly; 46% of body armor; 36% of home appliances; 30% of headphones/microphones/speakers; and 21% of office furniture. Airplane parts, medical supplies, and much more: prisoners are even raising seeing-eye dogs for blind people.

CRIME GOES DOWN, JAIL POPULATION GOES UP

According to reports by human rights organizations, these are the factors that increase the profit potential for those who invest in the prison industry complex:

• Jailing persons convicted of non-violent crimes, and long prison sentences for possession of microscopic quantities of illegal drugs. Federal law stipulates five years’ imprisonment without possibility of parole for possession of 5 grams of crack or 3.5 ounces of heroin, and 10 years for possession of less than 2 ounces of rock-cocaine or crack. A sentence of 5 years for cocaine powder requires possession of 500 grams – 100 times more than the quantity of rock cocaine for the same sentence. Most of those who use cocaine powder are white, middle-class or rich people, while mostly Blacks and Latinos use rock cocaine. In Texas, a person may be sentenced for up to two years’ imprisonment for possessing 4 ounces of marijuana. Here in New York, the 1973 Nelson Rockefeller anti-drug law provides for a mandatory prison sentence of 15 years to life for possession of 4 ounces of any illegal drug.

• The passage in 13 states of the “three strikes” laws (life in prison after being convicted of three felonies), made it necessary to build 20 new federal prisons. One of the most disturbing cases resulting from this measure was that of a prisoner who for stealing a car and two bicycles received three 25-year sentences.

• Longer sentences.

• The passage of laws that require minimum sentencing, without regard for circumstances.

• A large expansion of work by prisoners creating profits that motivate the incarceration of more people for longer periods of time.

• More punishment of prisoners, so as to lengthen their sentences.

HISTORY OF PRISON LABOR IN THE UNITED STATES

Prison labor has its roots in slavery. After the 1861-1865 Civil War, a system of “hiring out prisoners” was introduced in order to continue the slavery tradition. Freed slaves were charged with not carrying out their sharecropping commitments (cultivating someone else’s land in exchange for part of the harvest) or petty thievery – which were almost never proven – and were then “hired out” for cotton picking, working in mines and building railroads. From 1870 until 1910 in the state of Georgia, 88% of hired-out convicts were Black. In Alabama, 93% of “hired-out” miners were Black. In Mississippi, a huge prison farm similar to the old slave plantations replaced the system of hiring out convicts. The notorious Parchman plantation existed until 1972.

During the post-Civil War period, Jim Crow racial segregation laws were imposed on every state, with legal segregation in schools, housing, marriages and many other aspects of daily life. “Today, a new set of markedly racist laws is imposing slave labor and sweatshops on the criminal justice system, now known as the prison industry complex,” comments the Left Business Observer.

Who is investing? At least 37 states have legalized the contracting of prison labor by private corporations that mount their operations inside state prisons. The list of such companies contains the cream of U.S. corporate society: IBM, Boeing, Motorola, Microsoft, AT&T, Wireless, Texas Instrument, Dell, Compaq, Honeywell, Hewlett-Packard, Nortel, Lucent Technologies, 3Com, Intel, Northern Telecom, TWA, Nordstrom’s, Revlon, Macy’s, Pierre Cardin, Target Stores, and many more. All of these businesses are excited about the economic boom generation by prison labor. Just between 1980 and 1994, profits went up from $392 million to $1.31 billion. Inmates in state penitentiaries generally receive the minimum wage for their work, but not all; in Colorado, they get about $2 per hour, well under the minimum. And in privately-run prisons, they receive as little as 17 cents per hour for a maximum of six hours a day, the equivalent of $20 per month. The highest-paying private prison is CCA in Tennessee, where prisoners receive 50 cents per hour for what they call “highly skilled positions.” At those rates, it is no surprise that inmates find the pay in federal prisons to be very generous. There, they can earn $1.25 an hour and work eight hours a day, and sometimes overtime. They can send home $200-$300 per month.

Thanks to prison labor, the United States is once again an attractive location for investment in work that was designed for Third World labor markets. A company that operated a maquiladora (assembly plant in Mexico near the border) closed down its operations there and relocated to San Quentin State Prison in California. In Texas, a factory fired its 150 workers and contracted the services of prisoner-workers from the private Lockhart Texas prison, where circuit boards are assembled for companies like IBM and Compaq.

Oregon State Representative Kevin Mannix recently urged Nike to cut its production in Indonesia and bring it to his state, telling the shoe manufacturer that “there won’t be any transportation costs; we’re offering you competitive prison labor (here).”

PRIVATE PRISONS

The prison privatization boom began in the 1980s, under the governments of Ronald Reagan and Bush Sr., but reached its height in 1990 under William Clinton, when Wall Street stocks were selling like hotcakes. Clinton’s program for cutting the cutting the federal workforce resulted in the Justice Departments contracting of private prison corporations for the incarceration of undocumented workers and high-security inmates.

Private prisons are the biggest business in the prison industry complex. About 18 corporations guard 10,000 prisoners in 27 states. The two largest are Correctional Corporation of America (CCA) and Wackenhut, which together control 75%. Private prisons receive a guaranteed amount of money for each prisoner, independent of what it costs to maintain each one. According to Russell Boraas, a private prison administrator in Virginia, “the secret to low operating costs is having a minimal number of guards for the maximum number of prisoners.” The CCA has an ultra-modern prison in Lawrenceville, Virginia, where five guards on dayshift and two at night watch over 750 prisoners. In these prisons, inmates may get their sentences reduced for “good behavior,” but for any infraction, they get 30 days added – which means more profits for CCA. According to a study of New Mexico prisons, it was found that CCA inmates lost “good behavior time” at a rate eight times higher than those in state prisons.

IMPORTING AND EXPORTING INMATES

Profits are so good that now there is a new business: importing inmates with long sentences, meaning the worst criminals. When a federal judge ruled that overcrowding in Texas prisons was cruel and unusual punishment, the CCA signed contracts with sheriffs in poor counties to build and run new jails and share the profits. According to a December 1998 Atlantic Monthly magazine article, this program was backed by investors from Merrill-Lynch, Shearson-Lehman, American Express and Allstate, and the operation was scattered all over rural Texas. That state’s governor, Ann Richards, followed the example of Mario Cuomo in New York and built so many state prisons that the market became flooded, cutting into private prison profits.

After a law signed by Clinton in 1996 – ending court supervision and decisions – caused overcrowding and violent, unsafe conditions in federal prisons, private prison corporations in Texas began to contact other states whose prisons were overcrowded, offering “rent-a-cell” services in the CCA prisons located in small towns in Texas. The commission for a rent-a-cell salesman is $2.50 to $5.50 per day per bed. The county gets $1.50 for each prisoner.

STATISTICS

Ninety-seven percent of 125,000 federal inmates have been convicted of non-violent crimes. It is believed that more than half of the 623,000 inmates in municipal or county jails are innocent of the crimes they are accused of. Of these, the majority are awaiting trial. Two-thirds of the one million state prisoners have committed non-violent offenses. Sixteen percent of the country’s 2 million prisoners suffer from mental illness.

My guess is who has the biggest “chest” Lady Gaga or Madonna will win over this one because the average person, even those now on ATS for the most part don’t see that old train coming……………and it’s labeled “Slaughterhouse”.

They are putting people in prison for cheap labor that are selling small amounts of that green plant / drug we cannot name (When our government is linked to some of the drug trade itself)

Steal a loaf of bread or sell a couple ounces of that green plant we cannot name and you may find yourself in jail.

Steal someone’s pension or house and you may find yourself rich and promoted to head CEO or Bank Manager.

Sadly in America it comes down to how much justice can you AFFORD. The poor get public defenders and well, you get what you pay for. They figure it keeps the poor off the streets and keeps them from rallying together in the parks. As a bonus once you convict them they loose the right to vote and thus loose the ability to change things. Just like cows in the corals at the slaughter house all rounded up and numbered for easy processing. I have heard that one in three American youths have been in the system by the age of 23. Wow American kids must be the most dangerous children in the world. [[[ Mention the contractor collusion that high prison populations enrich more . . . ]]]

This practice has been gaining momentum for a long time. Most county and municipal jails have been using private contractors to manage the population for a few years. It’s cheaper that way. Personally I think it has become a necessary evil as more and more states are loosing their tax base that helped support jails and prisons. D.A’s along with the various, federal agencies are all about being tough on crime, blindly so, while boosting their own careers and turning us all into criminals. Thanks to all the new and improved laws now on the books, we’ll be seeing farmers, anti-immunizing parents and kids with a bad attitude added to the growing number of prison inmates. It seems that we are attacking the wrong end of this problem.

The whole justice system is a joke, and for profit. They speak their own convoluted languages, so as to force you to hire a liar. The judges are all ex liars, sitting on the bench after proving themselves really good liars. The judges keep the sham going for future liars. There should be few laws, in language even a fifth grader understands, get rid of all the ritual crap, and secret languages. A person should not have to pay 4 grand to a liar to fight a bogus speeding ticket…. Ever had to defend yourself against bogus charges in criminal court? The money liars make for defending you should be a crime!

Private prisons wants government to maintain a 90% occupancy rate., page 1

Yet again private business is looking for new way to take advantage of the crisis facing governments and to maximizing profits.

At a time when states are struggling to reduce bloated prison populations and tight budgets, a private prison management company is offering to buy prisons in exchange for various considerations, including a controversial guarantee that the governments maintain a 90% occupancy rate for at least 20 years.

How can anyone guarantee how full a prison is going to be.are the courts going to have targets to hit to keep the prision population up so it wont drop below 90%. There are some in the local goverment who even think this is going to far.

Roger Werholtz, former Kansas secretary of corrections, said states may be tempted by the “quick infusion of cash,” but he would recommend against such a deal. “My concern would be that our state would be obligated to maintain these (occupancy) rates and subtle pressure would be applied to make sentencing laws more severe with a clear intent to drive up the population,” Werholtz said.

If you go to prision it should be because your guilty and nothing else.

Look here just drop the prison paradigm. Read the ‘better judgments‘  category on this blog. There really isn’t alot of need for prisons . . .

Dean of Texas Senate rejects CCA prison purchase proposal

Yesterday, Frank wrote that the ACLU, Presbyterian Criminal Justice Network, and a broad coalition of civil rights and faith leaders were opposing CCA’s recent offer to buy state prisons in return for states maintaining 90% occupancy at these facilities.

Now, these groups are being joined by Texas State Senator John Whitmire, the Dean of the Senate and long-time chair of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee. Whitmire, speaking to USA Today (“Private purchasing of prisons locks in occupancy rates,” March 8th), had this to say:

“You don’t want a prison system operating with the goal of maximizing profits,” says Texas state Sen. John Whitmire, a Houston Democrat and advocate for reducing prison populations through less costly diversion programs. “The only thing worse is that this seeks to take advantage of some states’ troubled financial position.”

Former Kansas Secretary of Corrections Roger Werholtz also warned against the temptation of a “quick infusion of cash” saying

“♣My♣ concern would be that our state would be obligated to maintain these (occupancy) rates and subtle pressure would be applied to make sentencing laws more severe with a clear intent to drive up the population.”

Im happy that someone in my state legislature is saying no to this.

At least there are some voices of reason. Being Capitalism oriented is not very American, Human Rights and freedom of religion (not specifically freedom to be Protestant . . . ) is much more American. It would be best if the Five Civilised Tribes of Native Red Ameri-Indians had a Governor each out of USA’s 52 states and that a Native Red Ameri-Indian Chieftain’s post be created for the ceremonial Presidential role, with perhaps the current President’s powers be shifted partially to the Chieftain as well. Remember that Native America was the territory of the Native Red Ameri-Indians before the white colonists and their slave trading behaviour brought African Americans to America. USA looks like a Business outfit without a proper tradition and culture, which should be that of the Native Red Ameri-Indians’.

Long before the white man (or black) set foot on American soil . . . this is the red man's country, so how many NA governors is that again? Maybe they're a minority but USA is still their country . . .

Congress ‘criminalizing’ First Amendment – ‘No longer need to be conspiracy theorist’ to worry about police state Published: 5 days ago – by Bob UnruhEmail

Bob Unruh joined WND in 2006 after spending nearly three decades writing on a wide range of issues for several Upper Midwest newspapers and the Associated Press. Sports, tornadoes, homicidal survivalists, and legislative battles all fell within his bailiwick. His scenic photography has been used commercially, and he sometimes plays in a church worship band.More ?

In a plan that started out as a knee-jerk reaction to a crazed assailant’s attack on U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords a year ago, Congress has approved and sent to President Obama legislation that critics say essentially guts the First Amendment.

“The bill’s language is so overly broad as to put an end to free speech, political protest and the right to peaceably assembly in all areas where government officials happen to be present,” wrote John Whitehead of The Rutherford Institute about H.R. 347.

It was approved by Congress and awaits only Obama’s signature. While garnering significant enthusiasm in Congress, one member, Rep. Justin Amash, R-Mich., said he couldn’t support it.

“Current law makes it illegal to enter or remain in an area where certain government officials (more particularly, those with Secret Service protection) will be visiting temporarily if and only if the person knows it’s illegal to enter the restricted area but does so anyway,” he said. “The bill expands current law to make it a crime to enter or remain in an area where an official is visiting even if the person does not know it’s illegal to be in that area and has no reason to suspect it’s illegal.

“Some government officials may need extraordinary protection to ensure their safety. But criminalizing legitimate First Amendment activity – even if that activity is annoying to those government officials – violates our rights,” he said.

The bill states, “Whoever knowingly enters or remains in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority to do so; knowingly, and with intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of government business or official functions, engages in disorderly or disruptive conduct in, or within such proximity to, any restricted building or grounds when, or so that, such conduct, in fact, impedes or disrupts the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions; knowingly, and with the intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of government business or official functions, obstructs or impedes ingress or egress to or from any restricted building or grounds; or knowingly engages in any act of physical violence against any person or property in any restricted building or grounds; attempts or conspires to do so, shall be punished…”

What happens when the government itself refuses to follow the Constitution? Judge Andrew Napolitano explains in “A Nation of Sheep.”

Significantly, though, the definition of “restricted buildings” is anywhere where someone protected by the Secret Service “will be temporarily visiting.”

“A person eating in a diner while a presidential candidate is trying to score political points with the locals could be arrested if government agents determine that he is acting ‘disorderly.’ Mind you, depending on who’s making the assessment, anything can be considered disorderly, including someone exercising his right to free speech by muttering to himself about a government official. And if that person happens to have a pocketknife or nail clippers in his possession (or any other innocuous item that could be interpreted by the police as ‘dangerous’), he could face up to 10 years in prison,” Whitehead warned.

“Given that the Secret Service not only protects the president but all past sitting presidents, members of Congress, foreign dignitaries, presidential candidates, and anyone who the president determines needs protection, anywhere these officials happen to be becomes a zone where the First Amendment is effectively off-limits,” he said.

At the Examiner, Philadelphia columnist Tim McCown concluded: “Defenders and apologists for mainly Democrats and Obama supporters claim this act is completely innocent and all of us who believe differently have drunk Ron Paul’s Kool-Aid again. But a post on George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley’s blog page notes that the imprecise language, just as in the NDAA, creates risks and can most definitely be seen as a threat to our First Amendment right to Free Speech, Freedom of Assembly, and Freedom to Petition our government. None of that is very comforting in light of the Patriot Act and surveillance of and wire tapping of Americans.”

He continued, “Tonight you no longer need to be a conspiracy theorist to have real questions about whether we are becoming a police state.”

On Paul’s website was this: “Just when you thought the government couldn’t ruin the First Amendment any further: The House of Representatives approved a bill on Monday that outlaws protests in instances where some government officials are nearby, whether or not you even know it.”

Whitehead noted that members of Congress, feeling the wrath of Americans pummeled by rising fuel prices, a tanking economy and unpopular war efforts, “Have been working hard to keep their unhappy constituents at a distance – avoiding town-hall meetings, making minimal public appearances while at home in their districts, only appearing at events in controlled settings where they’re the only ones talking, and if they must interact with constituents, doing so via telephone town meetings or impromptu visits to local businesses where the chances of being accosted by angry voters are greatly minimized.

“While the Trespass Bill may have started out with the best of intentions, it has ended up as the government’s declaration of zero tolerance for individuals exercising their First Amendment rights,” he said.

“If these types of laws had been in effect during the Civil Rights movement, there would have been no march on Washington. Martin Luther King Jr. and his fellow activists would have been rendered criminals. And King’s call for ‘militant nonviolent resistance’ would have been silenced by police in riot gear,” he said.

He also criticized so-called “First Amendment zones” or areas.

“Free speech zones have become commonplace at political rallies and the national conventions of both major political parties,” he said. “One of the most infamous free speech zones was erected at the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston. Not so much a zone of free expression as a cage, it was a space enclosed by chain link fences, Jersey walls, and razor wire. Judge Douglas Woodlock, who toured the free speech cage before the convention, noted, ‘One cannot conceive of other elements put in place to make a space more of an affront to the idea of free expression than the designated demonstration zone.’

“Bubble zones and free speech zones, in essence, destroy the very purpose of the First Amendment, which assures us of the right to peaceably assemble and petition the government for a redress of grievances,” he said.

That Orwellian streak surely comes from England, and unless the Blue Coat, Red Coat dichotomy (Donkey or Ass – which is why the nation specific/aware Continental Europeans look down the  mixed pedigree of Americans, and are in turn snubbed at by USA for being communal) though American has grown much due to the War of Independence and Bluecoats, Elephant – alluding to colonial India perhaps?) Obama shouldn’t play up the England link too much due to thes historical factors (how could Obama say USA shares a history with England?!?) which de-Americanises the sense of Liberty, rather Obama should in all fair treatment of the colonized peoples and his own cruelly ‘imported’ peoples hand the stage to the Red Native Ameri-Indians instead of the Orwellian Tory RED COAT, WHITE Monarch led England. Louisiana
(French) and the Confederate states (Spanish) might as well be mentioned instead making up 2/3rds of USA.

Corporatocracy as a colony of England is terrible and relegates America to a symbol of Commonwealth-Colonial vassalship rather than a super power. USA is at a weak point now, and with the abuses of England (few hundred years worth) still uncorrected, USA should distance itself from England (which is quite worthless militarily in terms of assets) but foster friendship on an equal basis with the EU instead. Guess why?

EU could almost crush England and has half a mind to all the time. USA should choose the guys who fetted the Blue Coats – Remember the Statue of Liberty? The cult trappings of the English Mason/Illuminist/NWO or what not stand for nothing against ‘real politic’ . . . and real politic as not often played up by the EU (who are unfortunately too gentrified and struggling internally with tha PC exceptionalism to make any impression) easily shows that USA is sliding back into colony mentality by the sheer pathos of jolly England. USA forgot, it was England who wanted to crush USA and France (i.e. Europe) who HELPED USA become independent.

ARTICLE 1 – Airline passenger arrested over saggy pants – by Associated Press – 19th June 2011
http://www2.oanow.com/news/2011/jun/19/airline-passenger-arrested-over-saggy-pants-ar-1997137/

SAN FRANCISCO — A University of New Mexico football player who was arrested after wearing saggy pants on a plane at the San Francisco airport insists in a video showing part of his exchange with authorities that his pants were up and he had done nothing wrong.

The San Francisco Chronicle obtained the video and a link to it was on the newspaper’s website Saturday.

“My pants are up sir,” a seated DeShon Marman tells the captain, who along with someone who appears to be a San Francisco police officer, is standing near his seat on the plane. “I’m not doing anything. I paid my fees, and I’m ready to go.”

The Chronicle said it obtained the three-minute video from a passenger who was sitting near Marman during Wednesday’s incident and did not wish to be identified.

What the video does not show is Marman’s repeated refusal earlier to follow a boarding agent’s advice and pull up his pants, Elise Eberwein, a spokeswoman for US Airways, told The Associated Press on Saturday.

“When he was asked by our employee at the Jetway to please pull them up, that employee was told to pull them up for him,” she said. “And that exchange continued to the door of the plane.”

The 20-year-old’s pants were so low they were “exposing areas that most people would not want to see” and violating the airline’s expectation that customers won’t dress offensively, Eberwein said.

Attempts by the AP to reach Marman were not successful. A call to his attorney’s office Saturday afternoon was not returned, and calls to listings for people with his mother’s name in San Francisco were not returned or went unanswered.

News reports have identified his attorney as Joe O’Sullivan and his mother as Donna Doyle.

Marman said in an interview with KGO-TV this week that his pants were slightly below his waist, and he was unable to lift them up because he had bags in his hands. In a statement released through the university Friday, he said he was “embarrassed at the negative attention” the incident had generated.

“I believe in due time all the facts of the matter will come to light,” he said. He said any additional comment would come through his attorney.

O’Sullivan told the Chronicle that nothing was visible once his client sat down.

“The issue should have been over,” he said.

Marman was arrested on suspicion of trespassing, battery of a police officer and obstruction after refusing to leave the plane on the captain’s orders, according to police. Police have also said he injured an officer while being taken into custody.

“He’s refusing to get off,” Eberwein said. “The captain’s thinking, ‘What if he refuses something else in the air?'”

Marman was released on bail Thursday. Prosecutors have until July 18 to file any charges against him.

Fallout over scantily dressed man at airport – by Alicia E. Barrón – 23rd June 2011

PHOENIX – The college football player who was asked to leave a plane for wearing saggy pants is speaking out about a man who is allowed to travel wearing nothing but lingerie.

Deshon Marman was asked to get off a flight for wearing saggy pants that he refused to pull up. He was arrested and later charged with suspicion of trespassing, battery of a police officer and obstruction after refusing to leave on captain’s orders.

On the other hand, another male passenger is allowed to frequently fly to and from Phoenix on US Airways wearing nothing but undergarments. He has become a YouTube sensation but has many questioning if this is double standard.

The scantily clad man has been seen and taped in numerous airports across the country.

Jessica Malin has seen the man in lingerie at the airport.

“I was pretty pumped to see this man in his lingerie,” she said. “It was kind of offensive but it was entertaining.”

“I feel like if it was a rapper or a superstar walking on the airplane…sagging his pants, they would want his autograph,” Marman said. “They wouldn’t tell him, ‘Hey can you pull up your pants please?’”

“Leads to only one conclusion, that because Mr. Marman is black, wearing dreads he was treated differently,” said Marman’s lawyer, Joe O’Sullivan.

3TV has learned the man in lingerie is a Phoenix resident and a frequent US Airways passenger. US Airways officials say they do not enforce a dress code as long as a person’s “private parts” are covered up.

ARTICLE 3 – Man in women’s underwear allowed to fly – by Jennifer Thomas – 23rd June 2011

http://www.azfamily.com/news/local/Crossdressing-man-allowed-to-board-plane-while-football-player-is-not-124399689.html

PHOENIX – A college football player was asked to get off a US Airways flight due to his saggy clothing, but there was no issue when a scantily clad man boarded a plane to Phoenix.

Deshon Marman, who plays for the University of New Mexico, was pulled off a plane at San Francisco International Airport last week after US Airways claims he refused to pull up his pants.

He was arrested on suspicion of trespassing after police say he refused to leave the plane on captain’s orders.

But just days before that incident, a man wearing women’s underwear and high heels had no trouble getting on board a US Airways flight to Phoenix.

It wasn’t the cross-dresser’s first flight to Phoenix wearing women’s clothing. Several passengers snapped photos of the man, whose name has not been released.

When shown pictures of the man, several people at Sky Harbor International Airport felt the attire was inappropriate.

“I would call that indecent exposure, actually,” Heather Sisneros said.

“They shouldn’t allow it,” Jennifer Dake said.

“I’ve actually seen this guy come down the concourses,” Bill Machnick said. I’ve seen him in the airport numerous times.”

A passenger on the man’s flight said several people complained, but US Airways told her that if a passenger is not exposing their private parts, they’re allowed to fly.

In a statement, US Airways officials said the company does not have a dress code, but “our crew is authorized to use discretion to ensure the comfort and safety of all passengers.”

Prosecutors have until July 18 to file charges against Marman.

Meanwhile the hijab and burkha is banned in the most racist of countries. While nudism is allowed in some of these racist counbtries as well! Why the inconsistencies? The nation which allows BOTH nudist and burkha wearer, as well as crossdresser and saggy pant wearer (this is entirely moot actually, those boxers are far more clothed than the flimsy shorts or even sumo loin cloths or bikinis you can see being worn everywhere else. Why persecute Deshon for saggy pants to expose no flesh or a consensual hijab wearer? (ask to identify at most but a ban is excessive).

This shows either RACISM or FUNDAMENTALISM, both undesirable in the contaxt of thoday’s modern era. Kudos to Phoenix Airport, I’m surprised that Arizona while having the worst laws on immigrants is aong the most LGBT friendly in USA. The contrasts in inconsistencies are amazing to say the least. How about being good guys all the way and removing the TSA as well?

Mind-reading scientists predict what a person is going to do before they do it – by Daily Mail Reporter – 1st July 2011

It has long been a dream of both scientists and law enforcement officials alike. Researchers monitoring brain activity can now determine what action a person is planning before he carries it out. Although it is currently only possible to know what someone is going to do just moments before it happens, the implications of the breakthrough are huge. Scroll down for video Breakthrough: Researchers monitoring brain activity can now determine what action a person is planning before he carries it out Breakthrough: Researchers monitoring brain activity can now determine what action a person is planning before he carries it out Police, for example, would love to know what a criminal is intending to do during a tense armed stand-off. Lead researcher Jason Gallivan, of the University of Western Ontario, said: ‘This is a considerable step forward in our understanding of how the human brain plans actions.’

Over the course of a one-year study, volunteers had their brain activity scanned using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) while they performed one of three hand movements – grasping the top of an object, grasping the bottom of the object, or simply reaching out and touching the object. The scientists found that by using the signals from many brain regions, they could predict, better than chance, which of the actions the volunteer was merely intending to do, seconds later. Co-author Jody Culham said: ‘Neuro-imaging allows us to look at how action planning unfolds within human brain areas without having to insert electrodes directly into the human brain. ‘This is obviously far less intrusive.’ The new findings could also have important clinical implications. Mr Gallivan said: ‘Being able to predict a human’s desired movements using brain signals takes us one step closer to using those signals to control prosthetic limbs in movement-impaired patient populations, like those who suffer from spinal cord injuries or locked-in syndrome.’ The findings are published in the Journal of Neuroscience. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2010245/Mind-reading-scientists-predict-person-going-it.html

Projecting the preferred image – by Marina Mahathir – 6th July 2011

Deliberately causing problems to solve a problem is an entirely ingenious idea, like blocking the Penang Bridge just to show how inconvenient a demonstration can be. SINCE the subject has come up so often recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about our country’s image. In the first place, why do we even think anyone else spends much time thinking about us? And secondly, when they do, why do we even care? Obviously we do care since we seem obsessed with it. And the main reason seems to be that if we did not have a good image in the eyes of foreigners, they won’t invest in us or visit us and therefore we’ll become poor. Our standard of living, therefore, depends on what people think of us. It rather reminds me of those days, when some people said we should not have any public campaigns on HIV/AIDS in case foreigners think we DO have the epidemic here and therefore won’t come. We never thought that maybe foreigners might think better of us if we admitted we might have a problem but we are doing something about it, rather than be yet another country which prefers to sweep things under the carpet. When it comes to the image of a country, it really depends on who you talk to. Of course, we should be proud that we are almost a developed country with almost first-world facilities: great airport, great roads, good shopping malls.

We also have fantastic food and fairly hospitable people, especially to foreigners with money. We may not be very nice to those without money, such as migrant workers and refugees, but we don’t care about them. Unless, of course, their governments decide to stop sending domestic workers and we face the grim prospect of having to clean our own toilets. On the other hand, we seem pretty unconcerned when our image gets a battering all round the globe for attempting to whip women for drinking in public, actually whipping them for having babies out of wedlock, forming clubs for obedient wives and sexually harassing women for allegedly breaking immigration laws. Or declaring poco-poco haram in one state out of 13. I guess we don’t mind people laughing at us, as long as they still spend their money here. So image, just like justice in this country, is a moving target. It’s whatever we make it out to be. While we complain about men who ride their motorbikes dangerously on the streets when nothing is happening, when we need them we simply put red T-shirts on them and call them patriots. We should really send them to international conventions overseas as patriotic examples of Malaysian citizens. They must surely do wonders for our image. We should also send those fine people who blocked the Penang Bridge the other day just to show how inconvenient a demonstration is, to conferences on innovative ways to solve problems. Surely, deliberately causing problems to solve a problem is an entirely ingenious idea! Yes, Malaysia’s people, especially its leaders, really do wonders for our image overseas.

Apparently as a moderate Muslim country, we have absolutely no qualms about behaving just like the less-than-moderate ones, the ones who are quite happy to turn thugs and tanks onto their own people. We jeer at Western hypocrisy that supports tyrants and dictators when it suits them, but we don’t seem to be much different ourselves. Our image of ourselves must sometimes mirror the image of those we want to attract. We want to attract the deep-pocketed tourists from the Middle East and China, governments who also don’t look kindly on demonstrations. Therefore, not tolerating demonstrations here is just part of our marketing strategy, just like providing airport announcements in their languages, encouraging little Arab villages in the middle of the city and other amenities to make them feel at home. Perhaps we should mention it in our travel ads: “Come and shop in Malaysia. “We shall ensure nothing will block your route to the malls”. Our leaders are such intellectual giants that the concept of freedom and human rights has been distorted and diminished to only mean freedom and the right to shop and make money. I love it when certain leaders defend their right to shop in places they have not stepped into for decades. The sudden concern for the petty traders, mostly foreigners, who have not benefited from their wallets all this time, is so touching. So it depends whose image we want to emulate. In developed countries, millions can march peacefully and nothing happens to the economy. In fact, their economies have been devastated more by smart-suited bankers than any street demo against the ensuing austerity drives. Perhaps, in defining patriots and traitors, we should look at suits rather than T-shirts.

I am concerned that while posing as one of the good guys, this daughter of one of the worst policy makers and dictators in history yet to be brought to book, has NEVER mentioned APARTHEID against the minorities in any direct manner very much the same way Tengku Dr. Harris and Raja Petra Kamaruddin of MCLM have yet to (Marina is a committe bearer in that outfit though). She has though mentioned feminism in an apartheid manner but never spoke out against the method of acquisition of the massive wealth of her parents or brothers either.

Shows that Nepotism triumphs over honesty to the people. One more reason never to vote for family blocs in government. They will not look after citizens’ interests, they will be looking after their own family interests. Nepotism is especially bad in the 3rd world with the people egging them on as well because they too are too selfish or uneducated to see the difference – as in Yingluck’s recent taking of te PM’s seat in Thailand.

Let’s put it another way, APARTHEID is APARTHEID and you might as well vote your own relative as MP or PM (followed by yourself upon their passing??? Think Nuruls and KJs and oligarchies or nepotists and family blocs in political parties . . . ) than anyone else’s relative. In which case you would be no better than these very same self serving people. NO to sequestration of political seats within 1 family !

Does Michelle Obama Know About This? – abundanthope.net – 7th July 2011

Oak Park, Michigan: Their front yard was torn up after replacing a sewer line, so instead of replacing the dirt with grass, one Oak Park woman put in a vegetable garden and now the city is seeing green. The list goes on: fresh basil, cabbage, carrots, tomatoes, cumbers and more all filling five large planter boxes that fill the Bass family’s front yard. Julie Bass says, “We thought we’re minding our own business, doing something not ostentatious and certainly not obnoxious or nothing that is a blight on the neighborhood, so we didn’t think people would care very much.” But some cared very much and called the city. The city then sent out code enforcement. “They warned us at first that we had to move the vegetables from the front, that no vegetables were allowed in the front yard. We didn’t move them because we didn’t think we were doing anything wrong, even according to city code we didn’t think we were doing anything wrong. So they ticketed us and charged me with a misdemeanor,” Bass said . . . City code says that all unpaved portions of the site shall be planted with grass or ground cover or shrubbery or other suitable live plant material. Tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers are what Basses see as suitable. However, Oak Park’s Planning and Technology Director Kevin Rulkowski says the city disagrees. He says, “If you look at the dictionary, suitable means common. You can look all throughout the city and you’ll never find another vegetable garden that consumes the entire front yard.”

So what is suitable? From another local news report: . . . we asked Rulkowski why it’s not suitable. “If you look at the definition of what suitable is in Webster’s dictionary, it will say common. So, if you look around and you look in any other community, what’s common to a front yard is a nice, grass yard with beautiful trees and bushes and flowers,” he said. God forbid your yard doesn’t include beautiful trees, bushes and flowers. It’s your job, Oak Park citizens, to give Kevin Rulkowski pretty things to look at. According to Bass’s blog, she’s demanding her right to a jury trial. So the city plans to throw the book at her. Our attorney spoke to the prosecutor today. (for the record, my crush on him is totally finished after today.) – His position: they are going to take this all the way. Officially, this means i am facing 93 days in jail if they win. No joke.

@| peoplerrrstupid | July 8th, 2011 at 8:30 am What a stupid, clueless f. ing city worker. THIS is what’s wrong with our country. Come tell me what I can plant in my yard, and I’ll politely show you the quickest way to get the eff off property.

A) I applaud the woman for demanding her right to a jury trial.
B) the prosecutor’s office should be ashamed of itself.
C) The city planning guy should to, but he’s obviously too stupid.
D) I hope some nice lawyer will donate his/her services to this woman and offer to counter-sue the city for their malicious attack on common sense.

my letter to mayor: Dear Sir, After reading an article about your city and your prosecution of a woman for growing vegetables in her front yard, I am shocked and embarassed that this can happen in America. With all of the green initiatives that municipalities are pushing these days, this woman should be held as a model. Furthermore, your staff is an embarassment, especially with his statements that “suitable” means “common” according to his dictionary. He must have a completely different dictionary than the rest of America. As a matter of fact, the vegetable garden meets the very definition of the word in so many ways. As a suburb of Detroit, I would think that there are more serious issues facing your community than whether or not a woman grows a vegetable garden in her front yard. With today’s budget issues, I am not sure why you are employing a staff that has nothing better to do. Its a waste of tax payers money, its bureaucracy run amock…you work for your citizens, not the other way around. Not that you guys are alone with that issue. Get rid of these wastes of space and possibly hire more police officers, or for heavens sake possibly stick the money in the bank. Now there is a novel concept for government. As a citizen, I can tell you that I would respect and vote for a mayor who came out opposed to such ridiculousness and guided his overzealous desk jockeys back on task. Please step back away from your ordinances and your red tape and your career municipal officials and just look at this issue and how ridiculous it is. Thanks, James

Defending the Last Free Place on Earth (Skewed Article) by Jeff Berwick – The Dollar Vigilante – late February 2012

In Uncategorized on January 23, 2012 at 12:29 pm

Today was the day the internet went semi-dark.

Sites like Reddit, Wikipedia and thousands of others went dark in protest of the latest attempt at a violent terrorist attack on the internet, the so-called Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA). Here at The Dollar Vigilante (TDV) we didn’t go dark. We figure we’d be one of the first sites taken offline if/when SOPA is enacted so why give them what they want.

And what is it they want? They want to heavily regulate the internet and have the power to shut down any website. It’s a cyberwar going on, says Joseph Lieberman in this interview. Well, yes, there is a war, but it was one started by the US Government. Surprise, surprise.

But was there a cyberwar before valiant Joseph Lierberman rode up on the scene? Has anyone been shot? Did your laptop explode in your hands? What’s the worst thing that’s ever happened to you on the internet? Spam?

How many wars go on in the minds of these people? A harmless plant, marijuana, somehow in their world evolves into a brutal War on Drugs that kills hundreds of thousands per year. An emotion… terror… somehow turns into a War on Terror that has killed over a million people and resulted in a massive loss of freedom and liberty in the US, including the cancellation of the Bill of Rights. And now, the internet… the thing you are on right now… peacefully, without problem, they consider to be an ongoing Cyberwar and try to proclaim the GOVERNMENT needs to protect us from it!

If there EVER were some serious problem on the internet there will be one group of people and one group of people only who will deal with it and be able to deal with it: the internet community of programmers… they number in the millions. They already found a way to hack around Wikipedia going dark for 24 hours.

ANARCHY REIGNS ON THE INTERNET

The internet is the most perfect example of an anarchic environment. In some ways it is like America 300 years ago… a new frontier, initially free. The internet is, for the most part, completely uncontrolled and unregulated since it was invented by Al Gore. It has only been in recent years that the grey hairs of congress have even figured out what it is and have begun to try to “protect us” by making it worse.

Many socialists and Keynesians scratch their head at why the internet/tech business is one of the only businesses to still be thriving in the US. Silicon Valley is still teeming with life. And even though the US Government tries to keep out the world’s best and brightest, they still find ways around it. In this one case, they are considering building a tech incubator community off the shores of California.

The reason the internet/tech business still creates wealth and jobs is precisely because the governments of the world still haven’t figured out how to suck the blood out of them like they have in nearly every other industry through endless legislation, rules and regulations. Of course it is no wonder that some of the most succesful of the internet world, Peter Thiel, Steve Jobs and Jimmy Wales are commited Libertarians – they understand the enemy they are up against.

SHAMELESS FASCIST PANDERING

And, par for the course, in the US, this legislation only exists thanks to the fascist “lobby” interests. Established companies lobby the government to enact all sorts of legislation to protect their business interests… and that is exactly how SOPA came into being. After envelopes stuffed with cash from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) found their ways into the pockets of people like Leibermann.

Using the old, “I know you are but what am I” tact, the MPAA had the gall to state recently that by going dark to protest the attack on their businesses, sites like Wikipedia were “abusing their power”.

Note to the MPAA: Wikipedia and others are USING their power. The MPAA and the US Government are ABUSING their power by attempting to force people at gunpoint (laws/jails) to adhere to what you want them to do.

Big difference, MPAA.

Not to mention it was people like the MPAA who did everything they could to outlaw VHS tapes… and later DVD players because they had the nearsightedness to not realize these would become billion dollar moneymakers for them. And the same is happening now.

Apple iTunes, including iBook store and AppStore, is expected to grow at a rate of about 39 percent over the next 3 years and may contribute about $13 billion in revenues in fiscal 2013, according to an analyst at Global Equities Research.

This is a huge new market for the likes of the MPAA… yet they are doing everything they can to kill it using violence and coercion. In a way it is a small microcosm of democracy… the people who participate in democracy inevitably enact rules and laws that seal their own fate.

SELF POLICING

But, doesn’t the government need to protect creators of intellectual property? Here at TDV we are a provider of IP (our newsletter is 100% IP) and we don’t look to the government to ‘protect us’. We believe in the power of the free market to regulate itself through things like

http://creativecommons.org/.

Many people ask us, what would happen if someone started a website and copied all our material and claimed it as their own? The answer is simple. Everyone would call them thieves and they would be known as charlatans and would lose respect amongst their peers. It’s that simple.

CENSORING AND KILLING THE INTERNET

The real reason the government wants to censor the internet and talk incessantly about the need for an internet kill switch is for the same reason Egypt had an

internet kill switch… and China has the “great firewall”… because they know 2012 will be the year of massive protests, riots and turmoil in response to the US being

sold out from underneath the people and they know that the people will organize themselves via the internet.

HOLD ON TO THIS FREEDOM

Like the founding of America, we’ve yet again been given another chance to flourish. These chances only seem to come along very rarely. Before the founding of America, the last time there was an attempt at escape from the control of the state was nearly two thousand years ago with Jesus the anarchist.

And, for thousands of years, many people have been awaiting a return of “the savior”. The savior could be the internet. Jesus, in many ways, was the top anarchist of his time, fighting against the depredations of the state for freedom.

Fight against any and all government control of this space. This space doesn’t even exist physically. It exists virtually, but it is just as important as any locale in terms of your ability to access information and to make free your mind.

You’ve been able to access information you never thought even existed thanks to the internet. I know I have. And the governments of the world don’t like this. Fight to retain this ability. If we lose this, all is lost.

Sadly, the internet is the last free place on Earth. We have to go virtual to escape government oppression at this point. And if we lose this, there is no hope for humanity. If we retain it, the future will be full of prosperity and peace unlike any we’ve ever known. If we lose it? We don’t even want to think about it.

Freedom ended? No. Only Internet free now? Jeff is joking. And internet is not IRL so it’s not on Earth. Don’t you go down the fear mongering, demogoguery, self fulfilling prophecy road Jeff. Internet is not REAL. Real Physical world is real.

And we can find freedom throughout the world IRL (in real life) though in parts and portions in various countries.

Combine the following found everywhere :

1) Legal RLDs (red ligt districts, or adult services districts – strip poker!)

2) Gambling zones or licensed gambling outlets.

3) Organic Drugs Legal Zones.

4) 2nd Amendment – Tribal Areas that allow children to responsibly carry both hand and projectile weapons. See that child with a bazooka? No issue, he’s not shooting at anyone.

5) Places that have airports that allow people to carry fruits, pets and livestock on planes and trains. Terrorists please target the 1% or givernment bureaucrats, leave the ordinary 99% travellers and passengers alone, you’re giving them the excuse to TSA and Orwellise everything.

6) Places that have no abusive/controlling by-laws on your own paid for property or vehicles. Places with Allodial Titles and that abolished Eminent Domain powers.

7) Places that allow camping and setting up of homes where no incursions into private property in the way of demands for council ‘approval’ (it’s your property who the hell do you need permission from or to pay fees to before building what you want? ditch the laws that require this rubbish!) occur.

These REAL LIFE places of freedom are scattered about in various countries and should be re-established all over the world wherever needed. SO freedom has not ended, though it is being eroded and must be fought for and erosion pushed back. And internet is a flase flag for people who cannot tell the difference between real life and internet. Please Jeff, you’re confusing those with weak minds, not intrentionally I hope (in which case Jeff is throwing a straw man at the voters on behalf of the hegemonists)? If the REAL WORLD is free, we won’t need internet at all. So please focus on running for election as a candidate instead of bothering about the internet. It’s not real. REAL laws which kill freedom however, need all of us, the future politician to change, and to prevent oppressive minded politicians from taking power. Run for election and stop obsessing about the internet.

When real laws protect freedoms, internet will no longer be needed as we will be too busy enjoying freedoms in the real world to be bothered about online faux-lives. What basis can a candidate run on? Try the above numbered list for a start, get your fellow free minded citizens to legislate in your own countries. The last free place? No. We must be in the process of freeing ALL places in the REAL WORLD. Like Occupying ALL streets.

50,000 Feminists Take Umbrage at Pink Legos

You’d think feminists would want to encourage Lego’s pitch to young girls.

I’m a little bit conflicted on this, because I know stirring controversy is exactly what they want to draw attention to their “cause”. This sort of thing should probably just be ignored, but they’ve gotten on a nationally syndicated radio show. The presentation was particularly objectionable. It was taken for granted that feminist theory is proven and academically sound.

A consumer product targeted at children is so unsafe and dangerous that an organized campaign to have it be banned from the marketplace had arisen with growing support.

What was it this time? Tainted Chinese baby formula. Choking hazard happy meal toys? Collapsible asphyxiation strollers? According to the presenter, this was a far more sinister menace.

Pink Legos. The snappable building block toy enjoyed by generations of children.

So what’s the big deal? As it turns out, when viewed through feminist prism lenses any girl who is exposed to (let alone plays with) this toy will become a wife and mother, someone who is feminine and forfeits her chance to be a brain surgeon or win a Nobel prize in astrophysics.

Lest you think this is a hoax, the original petition (with 47,000+ signatures & counting) can be found at “Tell Lego to Stop Selling Out Girls.”

All interested parties who want to support women’s right to choose the color of her daughters Lego’s are invited to sign my counter-petition.

You’d think feminists would want to encourage Lego’s pitch to young girls.

Building blocks rely on spatial skills normally found in males. Oops, have I just committed a sexist “gender stereotype”?

[[[ *** RESPONSE *** ]]]

Gender Insularism is a luxury. These feminists are the result of lower society of formerly parentless, or single parent, or abused women supported by men from the same group assserting their position, that is not bad in itself, but to attempt to destroy the form and structure of the upper classes and the stable and nomral non abusive among family units they never had to chance to enjoy and are obviously jeqalous of, and those from stable and happy traditional families. is just plain hatred and jealousy.

Probably 90% of feminists are from stable backgrounds that do not wish to destroy traditional families, these 50,000 feminists sure don’t sound like any serious feminists to target toys obviously targeted at traditional families’ kids. There could be parallel toysets targeting the Feminist/Single parent group advertised at the same time for the toy company to be PC. Why should they feel aggrieved unless they are just emotionally unstable about happy families and throw themselves into work and criticism of toys?

Feds: Online novel played role in Ga. militia plot – by GREG BLUESTEIN – Associated Press – 2nd Nov 2011

In Uncategorized on January 17, 2012 at 8:37 am
ATLANTA (AP) — A suspected member of a fringe north Georgia militia group intended to use the plot of an online novel as a model for plans to attack U.S. federal law officers and others, authorities said. Court documents state that 73-year-old Frederick Thomas told others that he intended to model their actions on the online novel “Absolved,” which involves small groups of citizens attacking U.S. officials. The four, who federal authorities arrested Tuesday, were expected to appear in court Wednesday. They were part of a group that also tried to obtain an unregistered explosive device and sought out the complex formula to produce ricin, a biological toxin that can be lethal in small doses, according to a federal complaint.

The four listed in the indictment are Thomas; Dan Roberts, 67; Ray Adams, 65; and Samuel Crump, 68. The men live in the north Georgia towns of Cleveland and Toccoa. They had been talking about “covert” operations since at least March, according to court records, discussing murder, theft and using toxic agents and assassinations to undermine the state and federal government. At one meeting, investigators say, Thomas openly discussed creating a “bucket list” of government employees, politicians, corporate leaders and members of the media he felt needed to be “taken out.” “I’ve been to war, and I’ve taken life before, and I can do it again,” he told an undercover investigator, according to the records. Thomas’ wife, Charlotte, called the charges “baloney.” “He spent 30 years in the U.S. Navy. He would not do anything against his country,” she said in a phone interview with The Associated Press. Thomas and Roberts are accused of buying what they believed was a silencer and an unregistered explosive from an undercover informant in May and June. Prosecutors say he discussed using the weapons in attacks against federal buildings. Prosecutors say Crump also discussed making 10 pounds of ricin and dispersing it in Atlanta and various cities across the nation, suggesting it can be blown out of a car speeding down an interstate highway. Adams, meanwhile, is accused of showing an informant the formula to make ricin and identifying the ways to obtain the ingredients. Thomas is accused of driving to Atlanta with a confidential informant on May 24 and scoping out an IRS building there and an ATF building “to plan and assess for possible attacks,” the indictment states.

“We’d have to blow the whole building, like Timothy McVeigh,” Thomas said during the trip to Atlanta, the indictment states. Charlotte Thomas said her husband was arrested in a restaurant in Cornelia, Ga., and federal agents were at her home when she returned from the grocery store Tuesday afternoon. She said the agents wouldn’t let her in her home. “They tore up my house,” Charlotte Thomas said. She said her husband doesn’t have an attorney yet. Margaret Roberts of Toccoa said FBI agents showed up with a search warrant and went through her home, handcuffing her and taking a computer and other items. She said her husband is retired from the sign business and lives on pensions. “He’s never been in trouble with the law. He’s not anti-government. He would never hurt anybody,” she said. Listed numbers for the other two suspects could not be found. Attorneys for the men were not identified, and the federal defender’s office had no immediate comment. U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said the case is a reminder that “we must also remain vigilant in protecting our country from citizens within our own borders who threaten our safety and security.” Associated Press writers Dorie Turner, Leonard Pallats and Jeff Martin contributed to this story.

These military retirees are true patriots, diligent, brave and considerate to the people in removing politically destructive threats to national security posing as simple salarymen on American taxpayer’s backs, though they could be less cruel in the intended treatment of the worthless officials. Kidnapping then holding the offending and unconstitutional officials on a fully equipped and even volunteer/watcher staffed bunker complex cum prison which looks like some sealed up building (out of humanitarian concerns make sure it’s spacious, with staff/watchers posing as fellow strandees, try some escorts and bartenders, waiters/cleaners and such . . . ) would be better.

Better make sure it is lead lined and signal proof though, all kinds of hidden transmitters and other detectables could be used by the ‘offenders’ to call for help. You patriots don’t need to kill these abusive officials and bureaucrats, but they do need to be taken out of the system for America to be restored. The officials’ assets could later be seized or perhaps valuable items and assets fenced later could be used to pay for the salaries of the staff/watchers. Hows this for a kinder idea for a novel and a happier end? Someone could make a movie of this and you know what they say, life will imitate art, overall everyone wins, corruption and abuses end, world becomes less war torn (these officials could include warmongers) etc. etc.

One Year of Prison Costs More Than One Year at Princeton – by Brian Resnick – 1st November 2011

In Uncategorized on January 17, 2012 at 8:05 am
One year at Princeton University: $37,000. One year at a New Jersey state prison: $44,000. Prison and college “are the two most divergent paths one can take in life,” Joseph Staten, an info-graphic researcher with Public Administration, says. Whereas one is a positive experience that increases lifetime earning potential, the other is a near dead end, which is why Staten found it striking that the lion’s share of government funding goes toward incarceration.

The comparison between higher education spending and correction spending highlighted in the following chart is not perfect. Universities have means to fund themselves; prisons rely on the government. So it makes some sense that a disproportional amount of money flows to the correction centers. Also, take note, comparing African Americans in college and African Americans in dorms is not completely fair. For one, college implies an 18-22 age range, and incarcerated adults can be of any age. Also, it doesn’t take into account African Americans who commute to school.
\
Despite these shortcomings, this chart helps illustrate a large discrepancy in this country: America has the highest incarceration rate by population, but is only 6th in the world when it comes to college degrees. Our government’s spending reflects that fact accordingly. Prison vs Princeton – below chart created by: Public Administration http://www.publicadministration.net/prison-vs-princeton/

The prison contractor profiteering from the above bags a cash cow whenever someone goes to jail. So think about the productivity wasted in people who could contribute to the economy and the amount saved by releasing all non-violent, victimless (consensual drug takes, ‘moral’ offenders etc..) intentionally incarcerated persons.

Put it this way. 2 million multiplied by 37,000 = 54 BILLION yearly – the USA could actually hold random lotteries instead of abusing citizens so that some parasite minded or unthinking citizen decides to profit of taxpayers by abusing citizens in this shameful manner like this. There would be 54,000 millionaires created yearly instead of this nonsense. And in 40 years 2+ million millionaires would be in the USA instead of 2+ million unemployable RETIREES and continual abuse of citizens and the American constitution.

Why you should avoid taking vaccines – by Dr. James Howenstine, MD. – 7th December 2003

(NewsWithViews.com) Dr. James R. Shannon, former director of the National institute of health declared, “the only safe vaccine is one that is never used.” Cowpox vaccine was believed able to immunize people against smallpox. At the time this vaccine was introduced, there was already a decline in the number of cases of smallpox. Japan introduced compulsory vaccination in 1872. In 1892 there were 165,774 cases of smallpox with 29,979 deaths despite the vaccination program. A stringent compulsory smallpox vaccine program, which prosecuted those refusing the vaccine, was instituted in England in 1867. Within 4 years 97.5 % of persons between 2 and 50 had been vaccinated. The following year England experienced the worst smallpox epidemic[1] in its history with 44,840 deaths. Between 1871 and 1880 the incidence of smallpox escalated from 28 to 46 per 100,000. The smallpox vaccine does not work. Much of the success attributed to vaccination programs may actually have been due to improvement in public health related to water quality and sanitation, less crowded living conditions, better nutrition, and higher standards of living. Typically the incidence of a disease was clearly declining before the vaccine for that disease was introduced. In England the incidence of polio had decreased by 82 % before the polio vaccine was introduced in 1956. In the early 1900s an astute Indiana physician, Dr. W.B. Clarke, stated “Cancer was practically unknown until compulsory vaccination with cowpox vaccine began to be introduced. I have had to deal with two hundred cases of cancer, and I never saw a case of cancer in an unvaccinated[2] person.” There is a widely held belief that vaccines should not be criticized because the public might refuse to take them. This is valid only if the benefits exceed the known risks of the vaccines. Do Vaccines Actually Prevent Disease? This important question does not appear to have ever been adequately studied. Vaccines are enormously profitable for drug companies and recent legislation in the U.S. has exempted lawsuits against pharmaceutical firms in the event of adverse reactions to vaccines which are very common. In 1975 Germany stopped requiring pertussis (whooping cough) vaccination.

Today less than 10 % of German children are vaccinated against pertussis. The number of cases of pertussis has steadily decreased[3] even though far fewer children are receiving pertussis vaccine. Measles outbreaks have occurred in schools with vaccination rates over 98 % in all parts of the U.S. including areas that had reported no cases of measles for years. As measles immunization rates rise to high levels measles becomes a disease seen only in vaccinated persons. An outbreak of measles occurred in a school where 100 % of the children had been vaccinated. Measles mortality rates had declined by 97 % in England before measles vaccination was instituted. In 1986 there were 1300 cases of pertussis in Kansas and 90 % of these cases occurred in children who had been adequately vaccinated. Similar vaccine failures have been reported from Nova Scotia where pertussis continues to be occurring despite universal vaccination. Pertussis remains endemic[4] in the Netherlands where for more than 20 years 96 % of children have received 3 pertussis shots by age 12 months. After institution of diptheria vaccination in England and Wales in 1894 the number of deaths from diptheria rose by 20 % in the subsequent 15 years. Germany had compulsory vaccination in 1939. The rate of diptheria spiraled to 150,000 cases that year whereas, Norway which did not have compulsory vaccination, had only 50 cases of diptheria the same year. The continued presence of these infectious diseases in children who have received vaccines proves that life long immunity which follows natural infection does not occur in persons receiving vaccines. The injection process places the viral particles into the blood without providing any clear way to eliminate these foreign substances. Why Do Vaccines Fail To Protect Against Diseases? Walene James, author of Immunization: the Reality Behind The Myth, states that the full[5] inflammatory response is necessary to create real immunity. Prior to the introduction of measles and mumps vaccines children got measles and mumps and in the great majority of cases these diseases were benign. Vaccines “trick” the body so it does not mount a complete inflammatory response to the injected virus. Vaccines and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome SIDS The incidence of Sudden Infant Death syndrome SIDS has grown from .55 per 1000 live births in 1953 to 12.8 per 1000 in 1992 in Olmstead County, Minnesota. The peak incidence for SIDS is age 2 to 4 months the exact time most vaccines are being given to children. 85 % of cases of SIDS occur in the first 6 months of infancy. The increase in SIDS as a percentage of total infant deaths has risen from 2.5 per 1000 in 1953 to 17.9 per 1000 in 1992. This rise in SIDS deaths has occurred during a period when nearly every childhood disease was declining due to improved sanitation and medical progress except SIDS. These deaths from SIDS did increase during a period when the number of vaccines given a child was steadily rising to 36 per child. Dr. W. Torch was able to document 12 deaths in infants which appeared within 3½ and 19 hours of a DPT immunization. He later reported 11 new cases of SIDS death and one near miss which had occurred within 24 hours of a DPT injection.

When he studied 70 cases of SIDS two thirds of these victims[6] had been vaccinated from one half day to 3 weeks prior to their deaths. None of these deaths was attributed to vaccines. Vaccines are a sacred cow and nothing against them appears in the mass media because they are so profitable to pharmaceutical firms. There is valid reason to think that not only are vaccines worthless in preventing disease they are counterproductive because they injure the immune system permitting cancer, auto-immune diseases and SIDS to cause much disability and death. Are Vaccines Sterile? Dr. Robert Strecker claimed that the department of defense DOD was given $10,000,000 in 1969 to create the AIDS virus to be used as a population-reducing[7] weapon against blacks. By use of the Freedom of Information Act Dr. Strecker was able to learn that the DOD secured funds from Congress to perform studies on immune destroying agents for germ warfare. Once produced, the vaccine was given in two locations. Smallpox vaccine containing HIV was given to 100,000,000 Africans in 1977. Over 2000 young white homosexual males in New York City were given Hepatitis B vaccine that contained HIV virus in 1978. This vaccine was given at New York City Blood Center. The Hepatitis B vaccine containing the HIV virus was also administered to homosexual males in San Francisco, Los Angeles, St.Louis, Houston and Chicago in 1978 and 1979. U.S. Public Health epidemiology studies have disclosed that these same 6 cities had the highest incidence of AIDS, Aids related Complex (ARC) and deaths rates from HIV, when compared to other U.S. cities. When a new virus is introduced into a community. It takes 20 years for the number of cases to double. If the fabricated story that green monkey bites of pygmies led to the HIV epidemic, the alleged monkey bites in the 1940s should have produced a peak in the incidence of HIV in the 1960s at which time HIV was non existent in Africa.

The World Health Organization (WHO) began a African smallpox vaccination campaign in 1977 that targeted urban population centers and avoided pygmies. If the green monkey bites of pygmies truly caused the HIV epidemic the incidence of HIV in pygmies should have been higher than in urban citizens. However, the opposite was true. In 1954 Dr. Bernice Eddy (bacteriologist) discovered live monkey viruses in supposedly sterile inactivated polio vaccine[8] developed by Dr. Jonas Salk. This discovery was not well received at the NIH and Dr. Eddy was demoted. Later Dr. Eddy, working with Sarah Stewart, discovered SE polyoma virus. This virus was quite important because it caused cancer in every animal receiving it. Yellow fever vaccine had previously been found to contain avian (bird) leukemia virus. Later Dr. Hilleman isolated SV 40 virus from both the Salk and Sabin polio vaccines. There were 40 different viruses[9] in these polio vaccines they were trying to eradicate. They were never able to get rid of these viruses ontaminating the polio vaccines. The SV 40 virus causes malignancies. It has now been identified in 43 % of cases of non-Hodgekin lymphoma[10] , 36 % of brain tumors[11] , 18 % of healthy blood samples, and 22 % of healthy semen samples, mesothiolomas and other malignancies. By the time of this discovery SV 40 had already been injected into 10,000,000 people in Salk vaccine. Gastric digestion inactivtes some of SV 40 in Sabin vaccine. However, the isolation of strains of Sabin polio vaccine from all 38 cases of Guillan Barre Syndrome[12] GBS in Brazil suggests that significant numbers of persons are able to be infected from this vaccine. All 38 of these patients had received Sabin polio vaccine months to years before the onset of GBS. The incidence of non-Hodgekin lymphoma has”mysteriouly” doubled since the 1970s. Dr. John Martin, Professor of Pathology at the Univ. of Southern California, was employed by the Viral Oncology Branch of the Bureau of Biologics (FDA) from 1976 to 1980. While employed there he identified foreign DNA in the live polio vaccine Orimune Lederle that suggested serious vaccine contamination. He warned his supervisors about this problem and was told to discontinue his work as it was outside the scope of testing required for polio vaccine. Later Dr. Martin learned that all eleven of the African green monkeys used to grow the Lederle polio virus Orimune had grown simian cytomegalovirus from kidney cell cultures. Lederle was aware of this viral contamination as their Cytomegaloviral Contamination Plan[13] clearly showed in 1972.

The Bureau of Biologics decided not to pursue the matter so production of infected polio vaccine continued. In 1955 Dr. Martin identified unique cell destroying viruses termed stealth viruses in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome. These viruses lacked genes that would enable the immune system to recognize them. Thus they were protected by the body’s failure to develop antiviral antibodies. In March of 1995, Dr. Martin learned that some of these stealth viruses had originated from African green monkey simian cytomegalovirus of a type known to infect man. The Lederle vaccine experience suggests that the higher-ups are not concerned about sloppy and dangerous preparation of vaccines. Animal cross infection is a huge unsolved current problem for all vaccine manufacturing. If this vaccine production sounds like an unbelievable mess to you, you are right. The influential Club of Rome has a position paper in which they state that the world population is too large and needs to be reduced by 90 %. This means that 6 billion people must be reduced to 500 to 600 million. Obviously, creating famines and genocidal wars such as wrecked havoc in Africa, and loosing new laboratory-created diseases (HIV, Ebola, Marburg[14] , and probably West Nile virus and SARS) can help reduce the population. Other elitist groups (Trilaterals, Bildenbergers) have expressed similar concerns about excess people on planet Earth.

The company that was projected to produce the new smallpox vaccine in the U.S. was in serious trouble in England because of unsatisfactory quality of operations before setting up their facility in the U.S. Why would their performance here be any better than it was in England? If there are important powerful groups of people that are determined to reduce the world population, what could be a more diabolically clever way to eliminate people than to inject them with a cancer-causing vaccine? The person receiving the injection would never suspect that the vaccine taken 10 to 15 years earlier had caused the cancer to appear. Other Dangers From Vaccines In the March 4, 1977 issue of Science Jonas and Darrell Salk warn, “Live virus vaccines against influenza or poliomyelitis may in each instance produce the disease it intended to prevent. The live virus against measles and mumps may produce such side effects as encephalitis (brain damage). The swine flu vaccine was administered to the American public even though there had never been a case of swine flu identified in a human. Farmers refused to use the vaccine because it killed too many animals. Within a few months of use in humans this vaccine caused many cases of serious nerve injury (Guillan Barre syndrome). An article in the Washington Post on Jan. 26, 1988 mentioned that all cases of polio since 1979 had been caused by the polio vaccine with no known cases of polio from a wild strain since 1979. This might have created a perfect situation to discontinue the vaccine, but the vaccine is still given. Vaccines are a wonderful source of profits with no risks to the drug companies since vaccine injuries are now recompensed by the government. The steady escalation in the number of vaccines administered has been followed by an identical rise in the incidence of auto-immune diseases (rheumatoid arthritis, subacute lupus erythematosus, psoriasis, multiple sclerosis, asthma) seen in children. While there is a genetic transmission of some of these diseases many are probably due to the injury from foreign protein particles, mercury, aluminum, formaldehyde and other toxic agents injected in vaccines. In 1999, the rotavirus vaccine was recommended by the Center for Disease Control for all infants. When this vaccine program was instituted several infants died and many had life endangering bowel obstructions. Prelicensure trials[15] of the rotavirus vaccine had demonstrated an increased incidence of intussusception 30 times greater than normal but the vaccine was released anyway without special warnings to practitioners to be on the lookout for bowel problems. Children’s vaccines are often not studied for toxicity possibly because such study might eliminate them from being used.

A large study from Australia showed that the risk of developing encephalitis from the pertussis vaccine was 5 times greater than the risk of developing encephalitis by contacting pertussis by natural methods. Naturally acquired immunity by illness evolves by spread of a virus from the respiratory tract to the liver, thymus, spleen, and bone marrow. When symptoms begin, the entire immune response has been mobilized to repel the invading virus. This complex immune system response creates antibodies that confer life long immunity against that invading virus and prepares the child to respond promptly to an infection by the same virus in the future. Vaccination, in contrast, results in the persisting of live virus or other foreign antigens within the cells of the body, a situation that may provoke auto-immune reactions as the body attempts to destroy its own infected cells. There is no surprise that the incidence of auto-immune diseases (rheumatoid arthritis, subacute lupus erythematosus, multiple sclerosis, asthma, psoriasis) has risen sharply in this era of multiple vaccine immunization. Vaccine Induced Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus Dr. John Classen has published 29 articles on vaccine-induced[16] diabetes. At least 8 of 10 children with Type 1 (insulin needing) diabetes have this disease as a result of vaccination. These children may have avoided measles, mumps, and whooping cough but they have received something far worse: an illness that shortens life expectancy by 10 to 15 years and results in a life requiring constant medical care. Dr. Classen has shown in Finland, the introduction of hemophilus type b vaccine caused three times as many cases of type 1 diabetes as the number of deaths and brain damage from hemophilus influenza type b it might have prevented. In New Zealand, the incidence of Type 1 diabetes in children rose by 61 % after an aggressive vaccine program against hepatitis B..

This same program has been started in the U.S.A. so we can now look forward to many cases of Type 1 diabetes in children. Similar rises in Type 1 diabetes have been seen in England, Italy, Sweden, and Denmark after immunization programs against Hepatitis B. Toxic Substances Are Needed To Make Vaccines. Vaccines contain many toxic substances that are needed to prevent the vaccines from becoming infected or to improve the performance of the vaccine. Among these substances are mercury, formaldehyde and aluminum.[17] In the past 10 years, the number of autistic children has risen from between 200 and 500 percent in every state in the U.S. This sharp rise in autism followed the introduction of measles, mumps and rubella vaccine in 1975. Representative Dan Burton’s healthy grandson was given injections for 9 diseases in one day. These injections were instantly followed by autism. These injections contain a preservative of mercury called thimerosal. The boy received 41 times the amount of mercury which is capable of harm to the body. Mercury is a neurotoxin that can injure the brain and nervous system. And tragically, it did. In the United States the number of compulsory vaccine injections has increased from 10 to 36 in the last 25 years. During this period, there has been a simultaneous increase in the number of children suffering learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder. Some of these childhood disabilities are related to intrauterine cerebral damage from maternal cocaine use, but probably vaccines cause many of the others. Many vaccines contain aluminum. A new disease called macrophagic myofasciitis causes pain in muscles, bones and joints. All persons with this disease have received aluminum containing vaccines.

Deposits of aluminum are able to remain as an irritant in tissues and disturb the immune and nervous system for a lifetime. Nearly all vaccines contain aluminum and mercury. These metals appear to play an important role in the etiology of Alzheimer’s Disease. An expert at the 1997 International Vaccine Conference related that a person who takes 5 or more annual flu vaccine shots has increased the likelihood of developing Alzheimer’s Disease by a factor of 10 over the person who has had 2 or fewer flu shots. When we take vaccines we are playing a modern version of Russian Roulette. We not only get exposed to aluminum, mercury, formaldehyde and foreign cell proteins but we may get simian virus 40 and other dangerous viruses which can cause cancer, leukemia and other severe health problems because the vaccine pool is contaminated due to careless animal isolation techniques. Congress has protected the manufacturers from lawsuits, so dangerous vaccines simply increase profits at no risk to the drug companies. U.S. children aged 2 months began receiving hepatitis B vaccine in December 2000.No peer-reviewed studies of the safety of hepatitis B in this age bracket had been done.

Over 36,000 adverse reactions with 440 deaths were soon reported but the true incidence is much higher as reporting is voluntary so only approximately 10 % of adverse reactions get reported. This means that about 5000 infants are dying annually from the hepatitis B vaccine. The CDC’s Chief of Epidemiology admits that the frequency of serious reactions to hepatitis B vaccine is 10 times higher than other vaccines. Hepatitis B is transmitted sexually and by contaminated blood, so the incidence of this disease must be near zero in this age bracket. A vaccine expert, Dr. Philip Incao, states that “the conclusion is obvious that the risks[18] of hepatitis B vaccination far outweigh the benefits. Once a vaccine is mandated the vaccine manufacturer is no longer liable for adverse reactions. Dr. W.B. Clarke’s important observation that cancer was not found in unvaccinated individuals demands an explanation and one now appears forthcoming. All vaccines given over a short period of time to an immature immune system deplete the thymus gland (the primary gland involved in immune reactions) of irreplaceable immature immune cells. Each of these cells could have multiplied and developed into an army of valuable cells to combat infection and growth of abnormal cells. When these immune cells have been used up, permanent immunity may not appear.

The Arthur Research Foundation in Tucson, Arizona estimates that up to 60 % of our immune system may be exhausted[19] by multiple mass vaccines (36 are now required for children). Only 10 % of immune cells are permanently lost when a child is permitted to develop natural immunity from disease. There needs to be grave concern about these immune system injuring vaccinations! Could the persons who approve these mass vaccinations know that they are impairing the health of these children, many of whom are being doomed to requiring much medical care in the future? Compelling evidence is available that the development of the immune system after contracting the usual childhood diseases matures and renders it capable to fight infection and malignant cells in the future. The use of multiple vaccines, which prevents natural immunity, promotes the development of allergies and asthma. A New Zealand study disclosed that 23 % of vaccinated children develop asthma , as compared to zero in unvaccinated children. Cancer was a very rare illness in the 1890’s. This evidence about immune system injury from vaccinating affords a plausible explanation for Dr. Clarke’s finding that only vaccinated individuals got cancer. Some radical adverse change in health occurred in the early 1900s to permit cancer to explode and vaccinating appears to be the reason. Vaccines are an unnatural phenomena. My guess is that if enough persons said no to immunizations there would be a striking improvement in general health with nature back in the immunizing business instead of man. Having a child vaccinated should be a choice not a requirement. Medical and religious exemptions are permitted by most states.

When governmental policies require vaccinations before children enter schools coercion has overruled the lack of evidence of vaccine efficacy and safety. There is no proof that vaccines work and they are never studied for safety before release. My opinion is that there is overwhelming evidence that vaccines are dangerous and the only reason for their existence is to increase profits of pharmaceutical firms. If you are forced to immunize your children so they can enter school, obtain a notarized statement from the director of the facility that they will accept full financial responsibility for any adverse reaction from the vaccine. Since there is at least a 2 percent risk of a serious adverse reaction they may be smart enough to permit your child to escape a dangerous procedure. Recent legislation passed by Congress gives the government the power to imprison persons refusing to take vaccines (smallpox, anthrax, etc). This would be troublesome to enforce if large numbers of citizens declined to be vaccinated at the same time.

Many unconstitutional and coercive laws mainly based around profiteering are present throughout the system, a series of articles on such needed amendments and reaffirmation of abstention rights is due. Would any health professionals with a conscience including Dr.Shannon take up the task being familiar with the workings of the health system and lobby or whatever for the updates to the collusive and profiteering behaviour?
